62nd Annual West Virginia Wildflower Pilgrimage
May 9-12, 2024
The Wildflower Pilgrimage is a special project of the West Virginia Garden Club, Inc., and is co-sponsored by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. Assisting are West Virginia University, the Brooks Bird Club and colleges throughout West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia where you will discover a weekend of birding and wildflower identification. Blackwater Falls State Park in Tucker County, West Virginia is a birder and wildflower enthusiasts’ paradise where your passion for nature can be shared. With a variety of workshops and tours led by the best in the field, prepare to enjoy a weekend of nature programs at their best.
Arrive early on Thursday to attend a Beginner’s Wildflower Workshop, a Nature Photography Workshop and a Beginning Birding Workshop. Informative evening programs feature speakers on a variety of nature-related topics.
On Friday and Saturday participants will have the opportunity to participate in one tour per day, with all tours departing from the lodge. Each tour will be led by experienced and highly qualified leaders who will identify interesting plants, birds and other natural phenomena. Though some tours are more suitable for children than others, participants are encouraged to make the Wildflower Pilgrimage a family event.
